I get into the zone while I’m working. E-mail, Facebook and the iPhone all get neglected. So does my BBC RSS feed. 5 hours can go by and I’ve been dead to the world.

When it’s time for a break, I see a dozen frantic Facebook status updates about a similar topic and it’s time to play detective. “I can’t believe he’s dead :-(“, “Way to go for it on 4th and 2”, “The kid in that balloon has to be scared sh*tless right now”, etc. etc.

Not that the kind of news that interests me involves a 7 year old stuck in a UFO-looking balloon anyways, and who cares about the Patriots, but even at that, it’s always fun to minimize the editor and ssh screens to see what I’ve missed while working on the internet.

Rails deployment with git & capistrano is *awesome*.  I do all development locally, and when I’m ready to push to the production server its:

git commit
git push
cap deploy

and viola, production gets updated cleanly.
